The SGH Business Chess League has started the new season with even greater momentum! Within the walls of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, we welcomed a number of new, excellent participants. Our group was joined by teams from the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Alior Bank, KPMG Poland, Procter & Gamble Polska, PKP SA and CHG Meridian.
The ceremonial opening was performed by the President of the Polish Chess Association Radosław Jedynak together with representatives of SGH, including the Director of CPiTT SGH Bartosz Majewski. We also proudly welcomed the new main sponsor - Respect Energy, which is powering our games this season.
First chess clashes
The boards were in turmoil from the start! In the first division, after four rounds, the Polish Army took the lead with a reinforced squad. On the first board, Patryk Michałowski, who is in excellent form, is doing great, and the squad was additionally strengthened by Lt. Col. of Reserves, Dr. Eng. Witold Sarnowski.
The real sensation is the great start of the newcomer - the InPost team, which after the first run takes a high fourth place. The other newcomers in the first division - Respect Energy and Mercer - also impress with their good play, taking fifth and sixth place respectively.
There was no shortage of surprises
The first meeting brought several unexpected results. The biggest sensation was the defeat of the captain of the Polish Army, Colonel Sławomir Kędzierski, against Agata Trybuła representing the Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography. In turn, Microsoft, which took fourth place last season, is currently in the relegation zone - in ninth position.
As always during our meetings, participants could enjoy delicious coffee served by Mokate baristas.
The first meeting showed that this year's season promises to be extremely exciting. Strengthened team line-ups and unexpected results indicate the growing level of competition. We are eagerly awaiting the next chess clashes!
